You Are The Fuel to Your Own Favorite Victory
I’m a sports fanatic.
Nothing gets me going more than a great team making that late inning, quarter, period, round comeback, such as these plays:
- I always tear up when they replay Kirk Gibson hobbling onto the field to hit a ninth-inning homerun to win Game 1 of the 1988 World Series (vs. Oakland A’s).
- I get a lump in my throat when I see old clips of Michael Jordan hitting victorious shots (like he did so many times) to win playoff games.
- Like any true Ohio-boy, the mere mention of the “Holy Buckeye” play gives me goose bumps. A minute left, down by four, at Purdue, no timeouts, ball on the 40, fourth down and inches. Jim Tressel goes for the ball game with a bomb from Craig Krenzel to Michael Jenkins – TOUCHDOWN! “Holy Buckeye!”
- And of course, the first time I saw Jack Roush hoist that Winston Cup trophy high above his head on that sunny day in Miami, after more than a decade of being just so close.

This is what the greats are made of —that extra ounce of gumption. The real thing that allows champions to emerge victorious is their will, guts, determination, and mental toughness — whatever you want to call it.
And this is what makes us, the fans, appreciate human excellence —coming together as one unit to defeat the opponent, and overcoming amazing adversities along the way.
Let me tell you — you are on a team fighting for your own victory in much the same way, right now.
Allow me to remind you that we are at that moment in our lives where we are fighting for a comeback … and we need some home runs.
America’s energy dependence on foreign oil is grossly overlooked. I think we all get it, but I don’t think we all understand how we get ourselves to the plate to make a difference.
Let me point something out:
Starting in late 2007 and moving into 2008, our country saw a spike at the gas pumps like we’ve never seen before. It was like a torpedo hitting the American economy in 2008 through mid-2010. Together, Americans worked hard to bail one another out and put our fragile economy back on track.
Depending on who you talk to, we’re headed down the tracks to getting better again. And, just as we are recovering, guess who slaps us in our proud American faces? The only people who can — those that supply our addiction to foreign oil.
“Decrease our dependence on foreign oil” is more than a campaign phrase; it’s what our coach is telling us in the huddle at the end of the last quarter. It is real and it is right now. We are currently sending more than a trillion dollars overseas for our oil needs.
A 20 percent reduction of foreign oil dependence, which we can achieve with a modest adoption through North American fleets, would put $20 billion annually (that’s non-taxpayer dollars) back into our economy, and we will create jobs along the way. Again, that’s $20 billion in real U.S. dollars.
ROUSH CleanTech has now moved us away from foreign oil to a domestic-based fuel product offering in 10 different vehicle models in 2011. All are Ford-based propane autogas fuel system offerings, including the F-150, F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550 trucks, and the E-150, E-250, E-350, E-350 dual rear wheel and E-450 cutaway vans. And, we have more coming next year. And, ROUSH isn’t the only domestic fuel solution company offering these solutions.
So here’s my fuel for thought…
ROUSH CleanTech is doing everything possible to be an excellent teammate that you can rely on. Will you be on our team, or let us onto yours, so we can stand strong together as Americans and be independent again? Will you consider domestically produced propane autogas for your transportation fuel needs?
