District 11 Testing Propane-Powered School Bus

The first propane powered school bus in the Pikes Peak region has begun shuttling students to school in District 11. Students from Wasson High School, Galileo School of Math and Science and Scott Elementary School were the first to ride the bus.
The Colorado Springs School District says the propane fuel is cheaper and produces few emissions. They say the engines also require less maintenance.
The district reports they’ve entered a lease-to-buy agreement and will test teh bus during 2012. The bus is manufactured by the Blue Bird Corporation.
