Year in Review: The Highlights of 2020
2020 won’t soon be forgotten. The pandemic has caused unparalleled shifts to our economy, how we live, work, shop, vote, learn and stay connected with family, friends and co-workers. I understand the “glass half empty” feeling, but I prefer to have an attitude of gratitude as we still have a lot to be thankful for. Despite the headwinds, our team remained committed to still making significant strides in the clean transportation movement with a focus on innovation and customer experience. A few of the highlights:
For the first time ever, some U.S. Postal Service packages are being delivered via our emission-reducing propane autogas trucks. McAbee Trucking, a freight shipping and trucking company in South Carolina, purchased eight Ford F-750 delivery trucks fueled by propane autogas used for contracted parcel delivery routes between USPS locations in the Carolinas.
The number of Blue Bird propane school buses has reached over 16,000 units. That’s an astounding number that will continue to rise as nearly 1.2 million kids ride to and from school in propane buses.
We began production of our new Gen 5 propane autogas fuel system, which has been in development for two years. This propane autogas technology integrates Ford’s new 7.3L V8 engine in Class 3-7 chassis. The result is a powertrain solution that is “cleaner, meaner and leaner,” with greater horsepower, fewer emissions and more room to perform vehicle service work.
We will provide Penske Truck Leasing with a couple of our all-new Ford F-650 battery electric vehicles for deployment in Southern California. Backed by decades of electric vehicle engineering capability from Roush Enterprises, our expertise in electrification is vast. We’re taking orders now, and will begin production in summer of 2021.
In October, ROUSH CleanTech celebrated our 10th anniversary. In the last decade, we’ve brought over 37,000 clean advanced technology vehicles to more than 2,500 customers, who have accumulated more than 1 billion miles.
