ROUSH CleanTech Celebrates Propane’s 100th Birthday with Vehicles on Display, Parade and Ford Truck Giveaway
Centennial celebration to feature vehicles fueled by economical, clean, domestic propane autogas
LIVONIA, MICH. (April 9, 2012) — To honor the upcoming 100th birthday of the propane industry, ROUSH CleanTech joins the festivities at the Propane Centennial Celebration and Propane Clean Air Rally & Autogas Parade in Atlanta. These events kick off at the 2012 National Propane Gas Association (NPGA) Southeastern Convention & International Propane Expo April 14 at the Georgia World Congress Center.
In recognition of this major milestone in American energy history, ROUSH CleanTech has donated a propane autogas fuel system to be raffled along with a 2012 model year Ford F-250 at 4:00 p.m. eastern on Sunday, April 15.

ROUSH CleanTech will participate in the Propane Clean Air Rally & Autogas Parade, the first-ever parade of its kind. A Blue Bird school bus owned and operated by Hall County, Ga., and a Ford pickup truck owned and operated by DeKalb County, Ga., each featuring a ROUSH CleanTech liquid propane autogas fuel system, will be driven in the parade. The event, scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m. on April 14 in Centennial Olympic Park, will include trucks, vans, buses, taxi cabs, forklifts, lawn mowers and more — all fueled by propane autogas.
Following the parade, the ROUSH CleanTech vehicles will be available at the Ride & Drive event and for product demonstrations, and Todd Mouw, ROUSH CleanTech’s vice president of sales and marketing, will be a featured speaker. During the expo, ROUSH CleanTech will display Hall County’s new Type C Blue Bird Propane-Powered Vision in the Propane Education & Research Council’s booth No. 309.
The discovery of propane dates back to 1910. Yet, it is the year 1912 that marks propane’s centennial birthday with the advent and first delivery of commercialized propane. The automobile industry started using propane as a vehicle fuel in 1913, due to its clean, safe and cost-efficient benefits. It has become the most common alternative fuel in the world, powering more than 17 million vehicles.
Today, ROUSH CleanTech light- and medium-duty trucks and vans fueled by propane autogas have equivalent horsepower, torque and towing capacity to gasoline versions of the same models, but emit up to 25 percent fewer greenhouse gas emissions and 60 percent less carbon monoxide. In addition, propane autogas costs 30 to 40 percent less than conventional fuels.
