Four Reasons to Switch to Propane Autogas

Dear Partners of ROUSH CleanTech,

In this issue, I want to arm you with talking points to help you and your customers better understand why propane autogas is a great option for fleets.

Gasoline prices reached record highs last year, which means that now more than ever, propane autogas offers many advantages over traditional automobile fuels:

1)    Compared to gasoline, propane autogas offers at least a 40 percent reduction in fuel costs. To accelerate return on investment, a $.50 / gallon tax credit for propane autogas used as a motor fuel was passed at the beginning of the year.

2)    There is no loss of horsepower, torque, or towing capacity with propane autogas.

3)    Greenhouse gas emissions (24 percent), nitrogen oxide emissions (20 percent) and carbon monoxide emissions (60 percent) are all reduced significantly compared to gasoline.

4)    Propane is 97 percent North American produced with more than 70 percent coming from natural gas shale plays across the country.

ROUSH CleanTech offers propane autogas fuel systems for Ford’s full line of commercial vehicles, everything from Ford E-150 / E-250 / E-350 cargo vans and wagons, F-250 / F-350 pickup trucks and chassis cabs, Ford F-450 / F-550 chassis cabs (available Q2, 2013), Ford F-650’s (available Q4, 2013) and Ford F-59 stripped chassis (available Q2, 2013), to Blue Bird Type C and Micro Bird Type A school buses.

Think about your current customers. Which of them could benefit from the use of propane autogas? For example, let’s consider a telecommunications company operating E-series cargo vans can save over $20,000 over the lifetime of each vehicle while reducing almost 68,000 pounds of CO2 from the air.
