05.10.18 — Blue Bird and ROUSH CleanTech have extended their alternative-fueled school bus partnership through 2025. Since 2012, the relationship between the school bus manufacturer and alternative-fuel system manufacturer has resulted in 1,300 districts operating more than 16,000 propane, compressed natural gas and gasoline-powered school buses.
Blue Bird is the first and, to date, the only school bus manufacturer to offer a complete line of CNG, gasoline and propane models from one common engine architecture, which Blue Bird said simplifies service and maintenance. ROUSH CleanTech is the first Ford QVM-certified alternative fuel vehicle manufacturer to modify the 6.8L V10 engine to run on any of the three fuels.
Recent claims state that diesel buses are cleaner, cost-effective and innovative – more so than propane. A blanket statement like this is not accurate. So, how can you approach potential school district customers about propane buses to increase your propane sales if they are convinced diesel is good enough? Here are some facts to consider from Todd Mouw, president of ROUSH CleanTech.
After eight years and working with Roush CleanTech since day one, Todd Mouw was promoted to president of the alternative-fuel vehicle technology company. But, before his career with Roush, Mouw owned a small sales and marketing company that opened the door for where he stands today.
Last week at ACT Expo, I was honored to announce our newest clean-energy technology advancement — our first fully electric vehicle. It is an opportune time as diesel prices are up $.54/gallon year over year reaching levels we have not seen in a few years. Couple this with unprecedented levels of funding and incentives and the increased cost and complexity of diesel engines and it is clear to most fleets that a non-diesel alternative is a must have.
Schwan’s Home Service, Inc., Marshall, Minn., deployed 200 ROUSH CleanTech E-450 cutaways with plans to lease an additional 400 units by the end of 2018, totaling 600 vehicles. “Propane-powered vehicles have played a key role in Schwan’s product delivery for more than 40 years,” says Danielle Stariha, senior manager of fleet and procurement for Schwan’s Home Service. “Total costs of ownership for propane autogas is much lower than traditional fuels and other alternative technologies, which is why we are continually implementing the newest propane technology.”
We’re as proud as new parents to introduce the first-ever fully electric ROUSH Ford F-650 this week at the ACT Expo. The fully operational prototype is just a peek at the line of plug-in battery electric trucks and buses ROUSH will roll out in 2020.

05.01.18 — ROUSH CleanTech unveiled its newest carbon footprint-friendly vehicle — an all-electric Ford F-650. The company, which includes propane autogas and compressed natural gas in its technology portfolio, expands its alternative fuel market with zero-emission electric vehicles.
