Across America, transit agencies are making the move to clean-burning, emissions-reducing shuttles buses fueled by propane autogas. More than 700 vehicles equipped with ROUSH CleanTech propane autogas fuel systems operate in the transit industry, with the projected number to exceed 850 vehicles by the end of 2016. More than 30 transit agencies across the nation operate these vehicles.
We first heard about the Volkswagen emissions lawsuit more than a year ago. The Federal Government validated that the company’s “clean diesel” vehicles were releasing a difference in NOx emissions between testing and normal performance somewhere around 40 times more than the legal limit.
The San Diego Metropolitan Transit System on Wednesday rolled out its new fleet of buses fueled by propane autogas. The agency said the alternatively fueled buses help reduce its operating costs and reduce emissions by 2 million pounds per year.
