ROUSH CleanTech Congratulates Propane Award Winner
SuperShuttle recognized for implementing green technology with ROUSH CleanTech propane-fueled shuttles at San Diego’s Green Fleet Expo.
Livonia, Mich. (October 19, 2010) — ROUSHCleanTech congratulates SuperShuttle for earning the esteemed “Propane Hero” award, presented by San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders and Western Gas Propane Association President Lesley Garland, today at the Green Fleet Expo.
“SuperShuttle is a leader in the shared-ride ground transportation segment. We are proud they have chosen to integrate ROUSH CleanTech propane vans in their reliable, customer-oriented, and, now, environmentally friendly fleet in Phoenix,” said Todd Mouw, vice president of sales and marketing. “By making this change, SuperShuttle is no doubt finding fuel savings while boosting the air quality by emitting up to 20 percent less nitrogen oxide, up to 60 percent less carbon monoxide, 24 percent fewer greenhouse gas, and fewer particulates when compared to gasoline.”
SuperShuttle chose to implement a number of 15-passenger ROUSHCleanTech propane Ford E-350 vans at the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport earlier this year to help the company fulfill the airport’s new rules stating that all service fleet vehicles run on cleaner-burning alternative fuels.
“Autogas-fueled vehicles are the smart choice when aiming to meet air quality standards. Beyond its proven “green” benefits, this alternative fuel makes sense for business by reducing our country’s dependence on foreign oil and boosting profits,” explained Mouw. “Historically, autogas costs 30 to 40 percent less than gasoline.”
SuperShuttle plans to convert vehicles in other market segments, including California, to propane, said SuperShuttle’s Regional General Manager John Secrest, who accepted the award along with National Purchasing Manager Ken Brooks, on the company’s behalf.
Propane autogas is already the most widely used alternative fuel on roads today in the United States, powering 270,000 vehicles. Worldwide, more than 15 million vehicles run on propane. Up to 56,000 miles of pipeline, more than 6,000 retail dealer locations, and thousands of propane fueling stations across the United States make propane readily available.
