Residential Energy-Efficiency Exhibit Educates Homeowners about Green Choices at San Bernardino Home Show
Mobile display introduces energy-saving solutions in home efficiency, solar technologies and alternative fuel transportation to hundreds of Californians at Victorville event this weekend
SAN DIEGO (November 2, 2011)— During its inaugural months touring events throughout Southern California, more than 2,000 residents have explored the California Center for Sustainable Energy’s (CCSE) Residential Energy Roadshow. Transported by a propane-powered pickup truck donated by ROUSH CleanTech, the exhibit’s next stop is this weekend’s 27th Annual High Desert Home Show from November 4 – 6 at the San Bernardino County Fairgrounds in Victorville.
The mobile display, which boasts more than 35 sustainability partners together in one demonstration, showcases the accessibility and choices available in energy-saving products and services.
“Residents in the high desert communities have many opportunities to save money by focusing on energy efficiency measures and reducing their energy consumption year-round,” said Irene Stillings, executive director of the California Center for Sustainable Energy. “If you want an energy-efficient home, you should take a look at our Roadshow to find out about the many cost-effective options available for energy upgrading that will not only lower your utility bills, but also deliver greater comfort and healthier indoor air quality for you and your family.”
On board the traveling roadshow, residents will find materials from industry partners in an effort to bring these green technologies under one roof. The offerings address a wide range of practices to save residents energy and money in their own homes, such as capturing rainwater, insulating homes and incorporating new lighting technologies.
The ROUSH CleanTech propane-powered Ford F-250 pickup truck demonstrates to the local community the clean-burning properties of propane autogas, which emit up to 25 percent fewer greenhouse gasses, 60 percent less carbon monoxide, and significantly fewer particulates. All of this can help improve the air Californians breathe as well as lower the emissions footprint of commercial fleets across the state. While traveling from event to event, the truck has been refueling at publically accessible Ferrellgas propane autogas fueling stations.
“ROUSH CleanTech is proud to partner with CCSE in order to transport this all-encompassing, alternative energy-minded tour to the people of Southern California,” said Todd Mouw, vice president of sales and marketing for ROUSH CleanTech. “This is a great opportunity to show San Bernardino residents that propane autogas is the most readily deployable and flexible alternative fuel for vehicles that can immediately address air quality concerns for residents.”
The CCSE Residential Energy Roadshow is funded in part by the Department of Energy in support of the goals of its BetterBuildings Neighborhood Program and two California programs, Energy Upgrade California™ and Go Solar California! Various manufacturers and service providers have donated generously to the exhibit as well. After this event, the roadshow will continue to other home improvement and lifestyle shows throughout San Diego and Riverside counties.
